1.4 Executive AT (2016)
Bought new, Owned for 7 Years
Fuel Economy: 13.0 km/litre (7.7 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 1,500 km/month
    1) At that time, this was the only EEV-certified MPV in Malaysia. It can average between 13-16 km/l on mixed driving conditions.
    2) Good ground clearance (185mm), can get over speed bumps under full load without worrying about scraping the bottom.
    3) Rear aircond! A feature solely missing from the Perodua Alza which was this car's main competitor.
    3) Very comfortable seats. Even during long journeys, u don't have body ache like in Alza
    4) The 3rd row can accommodate adults. We have went for a trip from KL - Terrengganu with 6 adults. Surprisingly accommodating. And after completing the trip, the average fuel consumption was 15.6 km/l
    5) Service & maintenance costs relatively affordable.
    6) Reliable engine, gearbox and aircond. Never once had to repair or replace any of these 3 components in the past 6 years of ownership. Maybe because it's a Suzuki underneath.
    7) Compared to Alza or Avanza, this car feels much more stable and pleasant to drive. Passenger comfort is also better than those 2. But compared to Exora, Exora wins.
    8) Value for money (Bought with RM3K rebate + 5 years free service, which made it cheaper than the Alza and Exora).
    1) Super duper basic features. No steering controls, no Bluetooth, no keyless entry, no push start, no arm rest, no telescopic steering adjust, no DRLs, no LED lights and many more modern features are missing. Even the instrument cluster is really basic.
    2) Outdated boring exterior and interior design. Can look better with some mods (like bigger rims, body kits, spoilers) but otherwise quite old looking.
    3) Poor safety system. Only 2 airbags and no ESC. For a family MPV in 2023, this is rather unacceptable.
    4) Engine performance can feel inadequate (only 94hp & 130Nm) at times esp when climbing hilly roads with full load. The engine will rev a lot and this can bring down the fuel economy.
    5) Lack of storage space. Only 1 cupholder infront and no arm rest.
    6) Boot space with all seats up, although more than Alza, is still quite limited. Can fit few backpacks or a tiny foldable stroller and that's about it.
To Improve
- Hope Proton brought in the new gen Ertiga to Malaysia, which looks far more modern and has better specs and safety. Can be a proper competitor to Perodua Alza.
- Although a rebadge, wished Proton could have tweaked or improved the design to make it more modern looking.
Yes, I would recommend this car

1.4 Executive Plus AT (2018)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 14.8 km/litre (6.8 L/100 km), RON97, Mileage: 2,000 km/month
    - Its a rebadged Suzuki Ertiga 2015
    - Its a K14b engine
    - Conventional 4AT gearbox ( you will understand when you are in a massive traffic jam )
    - Had a very good experience with Ertiga ( Suzuki ) during trips in Indonesia, India and the Philippines.
    - True fuel saver ( 14.8 avg light footed, 12.9 avg very very heavy footed that kind )
    - Responsive
    - Spacious
    - Very low maintainence
    - Its a rebadged Suzuki
    - Comfy fabic seat compared to competitors in this segment
    - Tanjung Malim car assembler need to buck up. ( nothing close to the ertiga i drove and sat in other countries )
    - Its only a rebadged, parts was from others. You just need to assemble accordingly? ( Uneven dash trim joint, A pillar plastic dented, 3rd row seat buckle missing, rear window rubber trim with unclean uhu glue??? )
    - Painting job was done by some foreign worker perhaps
    -
To Improve
Just ask the guys in tanjung malim do their job will do. Even if they are installing other proton cars.
If you cant even make a proper rebagded suzuki, you will have a hard time in getting a X70 done.

Please always double check the painting work of all the proton cars. Start hiring and setup a QC department if proton doesnt have any. Trust me, proton need it badly.

1.4 Executive Plus AT (2018)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 15.0 km/litre (6.7 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 500 km/month
I drove a sedan before. So bear with my opinions:

    1. Fuel efficiency is noticeable with average ranging from 14km/L to 17km/L
    2. Spacious 3rd row seating suitable for adult for short and mid range journeys
    3. Compare to Alza, Ertiga has air cond blower with its own cooling at 2nd row which ensures rear cooling.
    4. NVH from engine is very quite!
    5. The 1.4L engine is working fine and delivers the power needed in normal journeys including ride to genting.
    6. Overall built feels sturdy. The seats are very comfortable.
    7. Very affordable
    8. 2018 version comes with head unit.
    1. An old model (2012) with many missing modern features which are standards now such as keyless entry, push start button, rear camera etc. These features are available in new Suzuki Ertiga 2018.
    2. Very limited boot space. Even a compact stroller won't fit. Almost all the time, one of the 3rd row seat is folded for the much needed space.
    3. I feel the handling is a bit tight and heavy (but this is compared to Lotus handling). The electrical steering does not auto-centre but should have no problem to get used to.
    4. As with other MPVs in this price range, this car comes with only 2 airbags and no traction control or VSC.
To Improve
Lets be honest, this model will be one and only for Malaysia market in absence of Suzuki and Geely's way forward for Proton. Facelift variants will also be limited due to Suzuki's restrictions. Hence, any improvements will be minor but appreciated.

1.4 Executive Plus AT (2018)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 14.9 km/litre (6.7 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 1,200 km/month
    - Silent Engine Unit (so silent you could mistakenly re-ignite the car)
    - Strong AC and 2nd Row AC with cooling coil to ensure the cabin is well taken car
    - Spacious legrooms
    - Comfortable 3rd Row seats that can fit Adult with comfort
    - Underappreciated Value Mover
    - Decent Fuel Mileage of 14.6 KM/L
    - Bonus - Comes default Tinted by Proton (Can save more cost)
    - Bonus - Good finishing
    - Lack of Reverse Cam and the Reverse Sensor is soft
    - Electric Steering does not auto-center
    - No Bluetooth Connectivity for the Radio and very dated Radio design (the only consolation is the USB)
    - Bootspace is almost non-existent with all 7 seats up
    - Beige color Fabric Seats is not good at dirt resistant
    - No Flip Rearview Mirror to prevent High Beamers
To Improve
- New techs like Key-less Entry and Push Start is a good addition
- Updated Radio System
- Improved Safety like EBD

1.4 Executive AT (2016)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 11.7 km/litre (8.5 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 1,000 km/month
Nice interior, all plastic & fabric is of better quality
No instrument clutter, all info is presented in simple direct way and fuel & temp meter is in analog which is nice
Comfortable seat, ample padding to back & thigh, ample legroom until the 3rd row for average Malaysian height (my height is 170cm)
Having 2-row overhead aircond unit is a godsend, 2nd & 3rd-row passenger will be happy during hot weather.
2nd-row armrest adding to the comfort
Ample boot space for light travel even with full (6-7) passenger, hidden compartment under the boot can add to the space.
The seat can easily fold to accommodate extra space. HUGE space if all backseat folded.
Smooth and silent engine but revvy in nature.
Good torque until 100kmh. If you are aggressive to the gas pedal, this car will nonchalantly rev to 4000rpm (max torque output of 130nm) and over.
Very good NVH, ride is very comfortable
Door closing with a convincing ‘THUD’ sound which is giving an impression of quality.
Have the switch for headlamp level adjustment
Right side signal stick is on the right side which is convenient to use unlike the usual left side of Proton.
A nudge on the signal stick will light the signal 3 times which is easy to use for changing lane.
Door can be sticky to close especially the back bonnet door. Need to bang hard to get it closed.
Beige interior albeit nice looking can be easily dirty. Applying fabric coating protection early on is recommended.
    Infotainment is a bit basic.
The reflector on the back door (which connect the lamp to the chrome trim) looks like an afterthought job. Proton should make it functional or ditch it all together.
Only 1 proper cup holder for the cabin side. The bottle holder on the door can be a makeshift cup holder but it’s a bit inconvenient to reach.
The fog light switch is a bit weird as the switch on the signal stick is for the back while for the front you need to press the switch near the headlamp level adjustment. It should be the other way round.
To Improve
The Suzuki Ertiga on the Indian & Indonesia market comes with all the latest infotainments gadget and even push start button, and proton should apply the same spec for the plus variant.
Add VSC system
Proton should bring the Diesel & Hybrid variant here, it will be selling like a hot cake!

Had mine for One and a half months.
For the price and what it is intended for, I would say it offers Good value for money.
The steering feel could be better. Mine does not self centre properly, I have to centre it myself for the last quarter turn. Is it just mine or is it the same for all Ertigas?
I understand it is EPS and we cannot compare with hydraulic power steering but I am comparing it with EPS from other car makes which are more positive and confidence inspiring.

It's value for money. 59K for a rebadge Japanese car.
It's so fuel saving, I could easily get 16.4km/L in 100% city drive with heavy foot around 90~100kmh.
If I maintain the speed below 70kmh, it could get 19.4km/L or 21.1km/L in the City!
See the #197 in forum https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4147792/all
Door and seat easy to get dirty.
Sometimes noise coming from the railings of second row seats.
To Improve
Should have darken color for the seats.

1.4 Executive Plus AT (2016)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 14.5 km/litre (6.9 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 2,000 km/month
Generally, the car is smooth to drive, braking is easy, similar to small car like Suzuki Swift. This upholds Suzuki standard since Proton Ertiga is a rebadged Suzuki Ertiga with only minor changes made such as emblem, tail light and chrome bar.
    - Very respectable fuel efficiency. I drive the car to work, about 40km one way with average speed of 30km/h. Therefore 14.5km/l is a good fuel consumption.
    - Good legroom for its size for all 3 rows.
    - Comfortable seats.
    - Rear view mirror is not glaring during night even though it is not equipped with auto on/off feature.
    - Car does not feel underpowered in most circumstances.
    - Aircond is very efficient and cold, suitable for Malaysian weather. Dedicated a/c for 2nd & 3rd row passengers helps keep passengers comfortable
    - Quiet engine
    - Large windows make passengers feel more roomy and less claustrophobic
    - Large front row window and side window makes driving easy and less blindspots
    - noise if the 2nd row seat belt is not properly secured
    - need strong effort to close door properly
    - lack of arm rest for driver and front passenger
To Improve
More features to be made on offer such as leather seat, reverse camera, push/start button, keyless entry (which is already available for Swift since long time ago)
