Cooper S ALL4 (2014)
Bought new, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 8.0 km/litre (12.5 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 1,000 km/month
Had this car for a while before I changed it, so here is my experience living with it

    1. It looks like nothing else on the road. It is not that pretty, but it is certainly unique.
    2. It does come with all wheel drive (on the S All4 variant), which does give a bit of confidence, but don't expect it to outrun a Range Rover.
    3. For a MINI it has a surprisingly decent back seat. There is space to sit, doors open relatively wide and it is easy to get in and out of the car.
    4. Equipment is quite good too. There are pretty good Xenon headlights and pretty interesting interior touches too. Interior has a comically large speedo in the middle which personally I find it very cute. Mine did not have MINI Connected so it only had the MINI Visual BOOST Radio system.
    5. Relatively decent power from the 1.6l turbo engine. Pulls quite well actually.
    1. Price is shocking. For what you pay, you would expect a bit more. You could get a BMW 118i or even the BMW 125i M Sport which has more toys and more power. Or even an A class! If you don't mind a sedan a BMW 320i can be had for the same price!
    2. Interior fit and finish is not up to mark. For a premium brand, I would have expected better materials to be used. The rear while there is space, the seats are so hard. The leather used feels cheap.
    3. The transmission is surprisingly slow for a MINI, considering the brands sporty heritage. Its just so slow compared to the new ZF8HP in the BMW 1 series.
    4. It is not the prettiest thing on the road.
    5. Absolutely tiny boot. It is much smaller than a Golf or a Focus actually. In fact, it is even smaller than the already small 1 series boot.
    6. The decals turn colour very fast, especially if they are white. You get horrid black dirt marks on it easily.
    7. Suspension is firm, and can be very jarring on lousy surfaces we have. It handles pretty OK though.
    8. Fuel economy is not that good too.
To improve
Build quality has to be improved considering the price. Speaking of the price itself, it is too much regardless of the brand and all. Also, aftersales could be improved, considering you only get 2 years of warranty for this car. As much as I tried to love this car as I do love MINIs, it was really hard to do it.
