2.2 CRDi Executive Plus (2014)
Bought new, Owned for 4 Years
Fuel Economy: 13.0 km/litre (7.7 L/100 km), Diesel, Mileage: 1,500 km/month
    Diesel economy cannot be matched at all. The torque is really good, making the car to be very easy to drive. You don't feel as though it is a lumbering SUV.

    Space in the Mk2 model is really good, with decent 3rd row seats. There are air conditioning vents in the last row.

    Boot is spacious, good for those IKEA trips, hauling anything and everything. If all seats are folded, you get an almost flat load bay.

    Relatively refined ride, quite comfortable. Auto transmission is pretty smooth too, and serves the purpose.
    Safety features, considering the price and considering the sister car, the Sorento from KIA has 6 airbags, is quite lacking on the Santa Fe. You only get 2 airbags, ESP and ABS.

    Build quality feels cheap compared to the Sorento too, hard plastics, while will nor break easily, doesn't feel premium enough for the price. Things do tend to get a bit loose sometimes, but a trip to the dealer should fix it.

    Important to keep the car maintained well, or the diesel engine might give long term trouble. If you don't drive on the highway a lot, and only use it for a little bit in city traffic, get the petrol, as the diesel's depollution system needs you to drive for distances so that it will work and clean the system out, this is one of the issues with diesel cars from all brands.

    The 2014 models have tighter last row seats, and are difficult to access as the middle row seats don't tumble forward anymore. Boot gets completely taken up when last row seats are in use.
To Improve
Improve the after sales support, service centres are so-so compared to other brands.

More safety features which are standard on the models available overseas should be made standard on our local models.
