2.0 16v 140 X-Tronic Expression (2015)
Bought new, Owned for 3 Years
Fuel Economy: 10.0 km/litre (10.0 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 1,240 km/month
-
- Smooth Engine and Transmission (you'll have to remember that its an CVT and treat it as such)
- Nice Design
- Safe (6 airbags plus all those "alphabet soup" safety features
- Comfy and stable, even at high speeds
- Parts from Nissans, so parts availability should not be an issue
- Good service from Renault Glenmarie
- Value for money car.
- Decent fuel economy (depends a lot on whether it is town driving or highways)
-
- Interior plastic parts should be better. Some parts like the plastic cowling behind the rear-view mirror rattled. Fixed by DIY
- Hollow-sounding door and speaker panels.
- Glove box cover closes with a BANG! if you are not careful in closing it.
- Lack of decent cup holders. (what's with the pathetic cup holder so near the Mini-SD slot? can't fit anything in there!)
- No audible reverse sensor. Only visual (camera).
To Improve
- Interior quality
- Marketing for Renault vehicles

Engine & CVT transmission is incredibly smooth. So much so that it's effortless to cruise on highways. You don't really ever feel the need to mash the throttle to accelerate.
Suspension soaks up bumps comfortably.
Ample space in the front & rear, as well as the boot
Reasonable fuel consumption - it's not a hybrid, but it's not a fuel guzzler either. 10.1L/100km for 100% city driving is still within expectations.
Fully equipped safety-wise, with no compromises
Renault's 5inFLUENCE service package takes the worry out of maintenance for 5 years, although with my mileage the service intervals come rather quickly, shortening the package length!
Using the same engine as Nissan's Teana & Sylphy means that parts won't be difficult to get.

Renault chose not to activate Android Auto in the car which is a bummer.
Tyre size is rare in MY, and so hard to source. If available, the costs would be expensive since the tyres are of the imported variety.
The paintwork chips rather easily. Not sure if it's an issue with the CKD units, or Tan Chong.
To Improve
To look into tyre size selection
Look into introducing Android Auto or at least a manual workaround which is available.
To look into the paint process to ensure it's not easily chipped.

- European designed & engineering with a Japanese heart is just great for price & reliable.
- design *new facelift with Renault signature grille look smarter and eye catching on the road, the sporty two tones 17'' Alloy rims, day time running light, C-shaped LED taillight.
- interior *same with the MEGANE III dashboard, although the design is quite some times but still well & practically to use, specially the door lock button located at center very convenience for passenger.
- driving* CVT is smooth with cruise control, speed limiter, very stable on highway and suspension is neutral compare between Japanese car too soft (T) & German car (VW) too stiff. Personally,I like the driving experience on this car, comfortable for far journey.
- fuel efficiency* tested my own 7.4/100km 90% highway , 8.8/100km city & highway , 10.9/100km fully city.
- sound insulation* quite good even the speed 100 on highway.
- cabin* leather seat makes the cabin feels premium & spacious, rear passenger can be fold down is a bonus,& it has rear air-cond vent.
- safety* with 6 SRP airbags.
- fully accessories 7'' touchscreen with R-Link software , enjoy the powerful Arkamys 6 Speakers is a must in this car.
- maintenance* free labour & parts service for 5 yrs or 100,000km.

- C'mon ! the internal rear door panel plastic is very poor, why not same with the front one, I believe the soft touch materials will not cost much, vibrating a lot if play with heavy bass audio.
- Using a old 2.0litres engine from 2008 Sylphy is little under power for this heavy car, prefer variety turbo engine.
- tiny cup holder not even enough big for water bottle, storage is poor for those ppl like to place stuff in.
- handbrake scarified a lot of space for center console, others country use auto hold electric handbrake for this car.
- (Renault Samsung) kimchi car logo at the window glass.
To Improve
- to improve rear passenger door plastic panel to more soft touch materials.
- engine variety.
- improve workmanship for the interior fittings.
- tomtom maps is not up to date from the R-Link server.
- upgrade from 2008 Sylphy owner, overall is satisfied and surprise for the stable European feel driving experience.
