im not a technical person so not going to touch any technical terms, im a motion-graphic designer and avid apple fan so im more into user-experience and aesthetics..

    - design is timeless. everybody says its a damn nice looking car. very bold, brave design, different than the normal toyota or honda look (notice the Vios, City, Forte and Preve front looks very similar). I mean just look at the Veloster and u'll agree nobody have the balls to make that kind of design for a car in that price range..for now

    - im not going technical here but overall driving experience is good. handle road bumps and puddles well and confidence in cornering.. torque and pickups feel smooth with 6 speed transmission with manual stick, driving on highways is a joy.

-overall noise is so-so.. i have not driven other car yet but i think the Elantra can be made to suppress noise better. Tire noise can be abit high due to the tire itself producing quite high surface noise (again, dont know the technical terms for this)..

    - the seat, damn u Inokom your QC people are retards, i got my seat squeaking in just 1 month using this car. Im not a big fat guy but the seat feels like im sitting on a lorry or something. when i brake or cornering, can hear the seat squeaking like its going to come off!...going to send for inspection see if the service center can do something about it.. i love the electric seat but probably the QC doesnt check if its installed properly

    - love the auto wipers, auto lights, the DRL, the electric side mirror (wish it will fold auto when turn off engine tho).. the car entertainment system automatically pickup my bluetooth signal when i got a call and goes back to radio when done talking, which is pretty nice..the mic pickups are quite good and i don't have to shout when using Siri on the iPhone.

    - the headlight hight can be adjusted.. even do its not HID but its ok i guess

    - overall space is awesome. it looks big from the outside so it ought to have a big roomy cabin. all my friends says its big inside.. the legroom is good for both front and passenger and because the driver seat can adjust the supports for thighs it can be really comfortable. the Nappa leather is not so much of a leather tho

    - there's few forum on FB where people modify their Elantra (especially the Philippines) and they didn't have to do much to make it even look nicer, more manly.... so upgrading is not much of a problem because of the already bold design.

    - fuel consumption is good. the fuel estimator/indicator is even better as it track how many kilometers i can go before running out of fuel. RM80 can fill full tank and give me roughly 500KM to go.. even when the tank's empty and the tank indicator on, there's still 70-80KM left I can use..
    - its a sports version, so why the hell u take out the sunroof for this sports version??? the high-spec premium has it! the high spec premium doesnt even have any bodykit but has sunroof!? WTF?? i was totally disappointed thinking getting the sunroof with this sports version (my fault not checking and confusing the premium got sunroof but the sports does not) but come on Hyundai! its a freaking sports version!!

    - the driver seat

    - some minor dashboard sound, not noticeable unless if u go really quiet. its a moving vehicle so i think its forgivable..

    - should have use better tire with less noise.. but then im planning to upgrade the 17inch to an 18 inch..might as well get a better tire

To Improve
- give me the god-damn sunroof!
- noise sound from tire and overall noise suppression could be improved
- sunroof goddemmit!
- HID headlights
- sunroof! sunroof!
-

It looks quite nice on the outside, with all the flowing lines. By far this has to be the best Hyundai design under Fluidic Sculpture, before the Storm Edge design took over with the new Santa Fe. The rear looks really nice, though no LED rear lights, oddly.

Rear seats are fairly spacious, with decent legroom, though the sloping roof does intrude into headroom. However, the boot has a nice size to it, which is good. Leather is available on the higher variants like the 1.8.

When idling or in stop and go traffic, the car is pretty silent, and the Hyundai homegrown gearbox is actually quite smooth and nice to use. The steering is somewhat light but not too bad actually. For the price, you do get a lot of metal, considering the base model costs the same as high spec City. There is adequate power to get the car moving about at a decent pace. Suspension is generally quite smooth, it does soak bumps well and at the same time controls body roll very well, which is a commendable effort from Hyundai.

There is a reverse camera and satnav built into the car for the 1.8. Leather is also provided on the 1.8 with keyless entry and start too. The sunroof is nice, as it lets in a fair amount of light into the cabin while driving.
Unfortunately the Elantra being built by Inokom lacks in quality, a lot. For a start, things like the AC fan speed control feels loose and not tactile, unlike something in the Cerato or a VW. Then there is the so called Nappa leather which feels more like rubber-PVC than anything else. Yes the red sticking is nice, but honestly, it feels nasty. Inokom has used a local developed satnav which is rather buggy and slow, they should have used a different one instead.

Safety is an absolute letdown for the price, with only 2 airbags except on the 1.8 Sport. Unlike the Cerato, which has 6 airbags throughout the range or even the Renault Fluence, it is a glaring omission considering for the quality and brand, it is rather expensive. Speaking of the Sport, it feels a waste and the locally developed plastic bits destroy the look of the car, unlike the Korean bodykit.

The power train is not very nice either, while the gearbox is responsive, the Nu 1.8 is rough when pushed and doesn't pull as well as the Cerato 2.0 due to the smaller displacement. Occasionally the car does feel a bit underpowered for it's size under load.

Visibility is another big issue for me, personally. I have had a tough time when negotiating tight spots due to the high belt line and not so useful mirrors. The high boot too makes it difficult to see the rear too.

Lastly there is the aftersales which is rather disappointing, in terms of service.
To Improve
First off, take note of the competition and buck up the quality. Give 6 airbags for all variants.

Also, maybe consider bringing in the GDI variant in too, after all since the i40 has the 2.0GDI in now. Also please improve on the build quality, it is seriously disappointing to see such a nice car to be shoddily made.

Lastly, please improve on the aftersales. It is too slow and the service plans are expensive compared to Honda, and even Renault's attractive package.

1.6AT High Spec (2014)
Bought new, Owned for 2 Years
Fuel Economy: 11.0 km/litre (9.1 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 2,500 km/month
Spacious and comfortable compared to others in similar price range (not necessarily similar segment).
Clean and neat arrangement of the centre console.
    Often mentioned, sleek design.
Not often mentioned, the engine is smooth and quiet (perhaps cause its still new).
    5 years warranty.
Fuel efficiency is not as good as expected (perhaps my expectation was too high).
Not as responsive as expected (1.6 is said to be under powered for a car of this size).
'A' pillar can be a slight hindrance to vision.
To Improve
This comfortable and quiet car deserves a better set of tyres.
Buttons on the centre console can be better, especially the aircon dial.
Foldable side mirror is quite essential especially in congested cities.

Why not putting more gadgets and features same like US model? Hyundai Malaysia model should not cut or taken out, like US model are giving more features and in term of safety wise too.

Good in term of space (front, rear & storage area), comfortable in long distance drive & good fuel consummation.
The sound system for me very satisfy even though it standard packet.
Door panel finishes not suite overall interior finishes (too much plastic for me).
    Road noise quiet intrusive.
To Improve
It should come with touch screen audio system & reverse camera for all model not only for 1.8 model.
Additional auto folding side mirror will be credit for Elantra.

1.6AT High Spec (2014)
Bought used, Owned for 1 Year
Fuel Economy: 9.5 km/litre (10.5 L/100 km), RON95, Mileage: 1,500 km/month
-Spacious cabin although cosidering my size (180cm)
-handsome interior and exterior though the air vent is placed at a very awkward position (improved and reposition on 2014 model)
-packs with insignificant features but it definitely makes the owners feel better (eg: keyless, auto light, auto leveling, 2 charging port, usb and aux port, glassescompartment, extendable armrest, the screen between the meter (idk what it calls), lots of cup holders)
-1.6 gives u sufficient power as family car (ps this is not a sport car but it gives you enough torque to carry 4 old folks with you sitting inside)
-large bootspace (although smaller than city but bigger horixontally
-fully covered with leather and softtouch on the dashboard
-at this price level, i didn't expected to be packed with expensive value-added features, but hey, where are my tweeters in the vents on the door card?
-DRL as it is a low cost add-on and enhance the great looking of the mighty elantra, why not?
-kinda hard to reach my handbrake while the armrest is extended
-the reverse sensors are a pain in the ass as i already hit the car behind when it started to "beep beep beep"
-awkward position for air con vent (fixed in 2014 model)
-no auto fold side mirror resulting i need to walk to the other side to fold my mirror up
To Improve
Let's put myself in 1.8 model since it is being priced at a premium and this is what i think it can improve on when i was asked to pay that much of money:
-give me back my tweeters
-DRL and projector headlamp
-rear air con vent
-6 air bags please
-auto fold side mirror

    - Design is very appealing, so far after one year, I still love it on both internal and external.
    - The leathers in the Interior is of a very fair amount (1.8 Premium).
    - So many cup holders!
    - Nappa Leather for 1.8 Premium is a stark difference from 1.6 AT which is Synthetic leather, giving it the worthiness
    - Power available when you need it
    - 10-way powered driver seat ensure comfort of the driver
    - Very easy to drive and reactive driving
    - Very effective petrol consumption on the high-ways
    - 6 forward gears
    - Many other electronic features (push start / Reverse camera / front-lamp projection height adjustable / GPS / 2 Cigar port)
    - Wind noise is acceptable due to its aesthetics.
    - Engine noise very well insulated.
    - Price worthy
    - No rear air-con vent
    - Headroom is a little low due to design.
    - No powered side mirrors for such a price of a vehicle
    - No day-light running lights
    - Only 2 airbags
To Improve
- More air bags, come on.
- Powered side-mirrors please
- Day-light running lights. It's cool, why not more cool?
- Rear air-con vent please (face-lighted model in the near future has it)

To be frank, a Hyundai is not the car for old fashioned minded people who still live in the past and could not accept that korean had made a vast improvements.
    - handsome, streamline and quite muscular body.
    - futuristic and sporty interior, decent quality and built, love the blue instruments
    - insulation is good, stock sound system is solid too
    - MDPS is well weighted at low speed, comfortable for highway cruising
    - 6 speed in house transmission is smooth on the run
    - interior is huge, seats are comfy too with soft touch materials around the cabin.
    - good fuel ecomony on the highway. Uses only half a tank on a 300km drive to Johor(fills tank at RM 80)
    - for the price, it is well equiped with active safety features such as stability and traction control.
    - the price of 1.6 AT high spec with the current available discount which makes the car at B-segment pricing teritory
    - love it at once and love it more and more everyday i'm driving it
    - resale value maybe not that great
    - steering could be too light over speed limit
    - 1.6 powerplant is decent and gets you on the move, but you won't win, say a traffic light drag race
    - engine refinement can be improved,
    - interior can be more solid at place
To Improve
- cabin materials could do with some better quality buttons
- improve the handling of the car
- should do with at least 6 air bags as standard at current market
- LED running lights, projector headlights and led rear lights please
